Connecting Timecode to LiveEdit for Show Synchronization

Integrating timecode with your LiveEdit setup is a straightforward process that significantly enhances your show's production by allowing real-time synchronisation. LiveEdit supports MTC timecode formats, providing flexibility for different setups.

Setting Up Timecode Source in LiveEdit

Select Timecode Source:
To choose your timecode source in LiveEdit, click on Settings in the left sidebar. Under the "Timecode Source" settings, all incoming timecode interfaces are displayed. Simply activate the one you wish to use. If timecode is currently being received, it will be displayed along with its frame rate (24, 25, 29.97DF, and 30).

Choosing the Right Timecode:

  • LTC (Linear Timecode):
Commonly used in the professional realm, LTC is an analog audio signal transmitted over a cable with a 3-pin XLR male connector. Since it's an audio signal, it can be connected to any audio interface recognized by your computer and visible in LiveEdit as an LTC input.
Tip: Using a 3-pin XLR to 3.5mm jack adapter, you can directly connect the LTC to your computer's mic/line input!

  • MTC (MIDI Timecode):
Connecting an MTC interface to LiveEdit is a convenient way to decode and generate timecode in any form. MTC interfaces typically offer LTC and MTC inputs and outputs.

LiveEdit has been tested and certified to work with the following external interfaces:

  • Art-Net: Through a simple network connection, you can receive timecode from the Art-Net network. Ensure you are connected to the Art-Net network.
