Project Properties

The Project Properties in LiveEdit allow you to set up and manage the key settings for your project, including the project name, framerate, default settings for new scenes, and roles.

Accessing Project Properties

To open the Project Properties in LiveEdit:

  1. Click on `File` in the menu bar.
  2. Select `Project Properties`.
  3. You can also use the keyboard shortcut `Command-J`.

Changing the Project Name

In the Project Properties window, you'll see a field labeled `Project Name`. Simply type in the new name for your project.

Adjusting the Framerate

You can set the framerate for your project. The available options are:

  • 24 fps
  • 25 fps
  • 29.97 fps (Drop Frame)
  • 30 fps
Warning: Changing the framerate will immediately affect all scenes in your project.

Setting Default Parameters for New Scenes

You can define the default settings for new scenes in the Project Properties. Here are the main parameters:

  • Starting Time: This is the timecode displayed when a new scene is created. For example, you can set it to 10:00:00:00.
  • Duration: Set how long each new scene will be by default. For example, 3 minutes.
  • Timecode Chase: Enable this if you want your scene to follow an external timecode.
  • Shot Numbering Mode: Choose `Automatic` for sequential numbering or `Manual` if you prefer to set the numbers yourself.
  • Shot Numbering From: Set the starting number for your shots. For instance, you might want to start numbering from 21.
  • Default Tracks: Specify which tracks should be included in each new scene and how they are routed.

Defining Roles

Roles are categories for organising Cues in your project. In Project Properties, you can:

  • Name each role.
  • Assign a color to each role.
